Medical / Dental Mission at Bagong Kalsada

The ACS(Adventist Community Service) in partnership with Generika Drugstore conducted a Medical Dental Mission to poor residents of barangay Bagong Kalsada on May 2, 2010.  The site of the mission was up in the hills of  Mt. Makiling within the boundary of Los Baños and Calamba, more than 200 indigents were served. Among these were 181 medical patiences and 81 dental patiences. The services rendered were medical consulations, tooth extractions and free medicines.

Although Seventh-day Adventists from nearby SDA congregations from Los Baños, Bay, Tugtungin and Calauan spearheaded the mission, there were also non-adventists who volunteered their time and effect for its success. Among these are the employees of Generika Drugstore and the officials from barangay Bagong Kalsada. Noteworthy is Dr. Luz Valladolid who conducted a marathon dental service totaling more than 80 tooth extractions.

Althrough the location is difficult to reach (it is about 30 minute upward hike from the highway), the brethren objective was to do Jesus Christ commission. The Medical Dental Mission was to fulfill the SDA's church commission to share God's love by serving others.
